Heading 2

What is Airbrush and why do we use it

  • Airbrushing for makeup utilizes a freehand technique to apply makeup while manipulating aspects such as distance and air pressure to produce certain effects and coverage.

  • Airbrushed makeup was first used in the 1959 film Ben Hur, where the makeup artists used the technique to apply makeup to a large cast.

  • Airbrush makeup is makeup sprayed onto the skin using an airbrush instead of being applied with sponges, brushes, fingers, or other methods.

  • It has become more popular with the advent of high-definition video and television (HD). Traditional powder or liquid based makeup can settle and appear in pores and wrinkles and be visible on HD film.

  • As the makeup is sprayed on, it connects with the skin as millions of droplets or particles of formula.

  • Airbrush makeup is the original HD. Millions of tiny little dot like particles are layered on the skin and when connected together create a lightweight and flawless look.

  • Airbrush makeup wears longer than traditional powder or liquid foundation, and is able to stay put upwards of 12–24 hours.

  • The technique is more sanitary than traditional makeup application due the artist tools and product never having to touch the skin.

  • In the contemporary makeup, airbrush makeup has become a preferred option for bridal and events due to its long wearing and flawless appearance.

  • It can be used to cover a multitude of imperfections or issues such as five o'clock shadows for men, tattoos or skin conditions. Evening out skin imperfections while still allowing your skin to breath.

  • Airbrush makeup is also used for eye shadow, blush, eyebrows and lips and can be layered, shaded, highlighted and contoured. Fantasy and special effects are able to be stenciled or created by freehand.

  • Application wise, airbrush makeup to be applied in thin, light layers on the skin that can be barely noticeable to the makeup wearer.

  • Built up from a sheer to full application, while still looking natural and letting the skin breathe. Airbrush makeup gives a professional but natural look.

  • Far more resilient than most traditional makeup’s, you will not get brush marks or smudges across your skin and it will withstand sweat, tears, rain and other moisture better than traditional makeup. It can be made even more resilient with the addition of a sealant or finish, which is excellent for special occasions but is gentle enough for everyday use.
